How To Make Your Eyes Look Bigger
How To Make Your Eyes Look Bigger
For years I have been searching for ways to make my eyes look bigger. I spent the longest part of my makeup wearing life doing all the wrong things, which ended up making my eyes look a lot smaller than they were. Here are a few tips on how to make your eyes look bigger.
Step 1 – Conceal
If you have dark circles/dark under eyes it’s always best to apply a concealer to cancel out the darkness. The darkness around the eye creates the illusion that your eyes are sunken in, so by brightening them up, you’re making your eyes look highlighted and brighter. Make sure to set your concealer with a powder to prevent creasing.
I use LA Girl Pro Conceal in the shade Porcelain and Collection Primed and Ready Invisible Setting powder.
Step 2 – Eyeliner
Thinly line your upper lash line using a liquid liner. You want your liner to be thin otherwise it can make your eyes look smaller and more defined. The thin liner will create the illusion that your eyelashes are thicker.
I use Soap And Glory Supercat Liquid Liner Pen.
Step 3 – Lightly Define Your Eyes *Optional*
If you would like some extra definition without making your eyes look too dark, take an eyeshadow a few shades darker than your skin tone and very lightly run the colour through your lower lash line. This will make your eyes look more defined but won’t be as harsh as using a dark brown or black shadow.
I use Makeup Obsession Eyeshadow in Taupe.
Step 4 – Line The Waterline
This step alone is enough to transform your eyes. Using a light nude eyeliner on the waterline creates the illusion that your eyeball is bigger than it is. You can also use a white eyeliner pencil but it can look very harsh.
I use NYX Wonder Pencil in the shade Light.
Step 5 – Curl Those Lashes
Curling your eyelashes really opens up your eyes as well as making your lashes look longer. Curl your lashes at the base of the lash for extra lift and curl again in the middle of the lash for and extra curl.
Step 6 – Mascara
Use a mascara that is targeted at lengthening and separating your lashes. To make sure all of your lashes get a good coating of mascara, place the wand at the base of your lashes and slowly wiggle from side to side for a few seconds before using the same motion to coat the entire length of the lash.
I use Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara.
Step – 7 Highlighting *Optional*
Take a flat eyeshadow brush with a little of your favourite highlighter and highlight the inner corners of your eyes and your brow bone. This makes your eyes look brighter and more lifted.
I use Makeup Obsession Highlight in Pearl.
